The Imperfect Advocate Podcast.

Hosted by Karen C. Auld

WELCOME.

Hello everyone, I’m Karen, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Imperfect Advocate podcast.

In this space, we’ll dive deep into the concept of perfectionism, exploring how it may be stifling your actions through the relentless whispers of your inner critic.

Perhaps, you feel paralyzed because you believe your efforts are, well, not perfect.

The Zero Waste Chef, Ann Marie Bannoue says “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

And I agree.

Let’s clarify from the start; this podcast is a safe space, a sanctuary free from judgement for all of us imperfect advocates. It’s for those passionate about the environment but occasionally forget their reusable shopping bags at home - yes, I’m frequently guilty of that too. I have reusable wipes in my house, and I still buy paper towels. My inner critic tells me I’m not good enough to have a podcast, but it’s ok because I am the Imperfect Advocate.

There’s something else that I want you to know. I’m excited to share that our podcast is fueled by the most sustainable energy known - far surpassing solar power - the energy of love. In every episode, we will harness this powerful energy through the practice of a Buddhist meditation known as Metta. This practice is an invitation to extend love and kindness towards yourself, others, and our world.

My intention with the Imperfect Advocate podcast is to remind ourselves that we are integral components of the ecosystem. Our actions, our health, and even our mindset impacts the environment.

We truly are all connected.

I hope you’ll tune in and join the Imperfect Advocate movement. Together, we can make a difference, imperfectly.

“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

— Anne Marie Bonneau

“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you can not help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

— Albert Einstein

“You protect what you love.”

— Jacques Cousteau

“I used to think that the top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse, and climate change. I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with those we need a cultural and spiritual transformation. And we scientists don’t know how to do that”

— James Gustave Speth
